Our Story
Herefords are in our genetics.   large product photo

The first registered Hereford cattle in our family were raised on the banks of the Little Blue River, north of Manhattan Kansas. E.I. Washington homesteaded his family on the family farm, now which lies beneath Tuttle Creek Resevoir. It was EI's gift of a single cow to his grandson and namesake, Eddie Ransom, that brought Hereford cattle to Ransom Farms in 1947.

Over the years, EI's daughter Anne and her husband, Willard "Bill" Ransom, Ransom Farms located at Ransomville, KS gradually increased their Hereford cattle with more of the Washington bloodlines.

It was through the care and breeding of those registered Herefords by Bill and Anne that transended the next two generations of Hereford cattle under the Ransom Farms name. The herd prospered and the cattle evolved into feminine females with low birth rates and quality udders.

After the passing of Anne, Ransom Farms was dissolved and split between the heirs. It was the eldest daughter of Anne and Bill, Nancy, her eldest son, Scott and his wife Melissa who took their portion of the land and a select number of cattle with the desired genetics to form Heritage Herefords, LLC on September 1, 2006.

Heritage Herefords, LLC is a family operation set on building on generations of genetics, heritage and the desire to improve the Hereford breed and the beef industry as a whole.

It is this drive on which Heritage Herefords LLC is taking the past and using it to build the future for the next generation.

We welcome you to our web site and encourage you to explore the cattle we have to offer.

Sincerely,

Nancy, Scott, and Melissa
